What is Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Involving one or more small incisions (usually only 1/4″ long) rather than a large incision) resulting in less pain, shorter hospital stay, less scarring, fewer to no risk of infections, and faster recovery. Surgeons need special training before they can perform minimally invasive surgery.

How to prepare yourself for Surgery?

The surgeon may advise some invasive (colonoscopy/ endoscopy/ hysteroscopy) or non-invasive imaging tests such as complete blood count (CBC), blood liver enzyme tests, blood chemistry tests, electrocardiogram (EKG), and chest X-ray.

On the day of surgery, you will be provided blood-thinning medications and antihistamines. You will be recommended not to eat or drink from the night before the surgery. There are chances that you may be prescribed some antibiotics before the procedure, depending on the type of surgery.

How postoperative follow-up is done?

You will be provided with a given timeline for how long, and how many times, a follow-up consultation is required post-surgery. Depending upon the condition, improvement and surgery performed your care options, medications and recovery is planned and altered by the surgeon
