How Blood Donation is done?
- First required registration of the candidate
- Medical examination, a fit & healthy person is an eligible candidate for donation
- Undergoing simple laboratory tests- Hemoglobin estimation
- Blood is withdrawn through a sterile & disposable needle preventing any chance of infection.
- It takes less than 10 minutes
- Offering refreshment after taking a rest for 10-15 minutes.

How much blood is taken during Blood donation?
Only for blood donation purposes, approximately 0.5 L of blood is collected. For donations of other blood products, such as platelet or plasma, the amount collected depends on your height, weight and platelet count.
Are the history questions necessary every time I donate?
Yes, the donation of blood and blood products is required to be performed safely. All the donors were asked a set of questions at each donation. We follow FDA regulations specifically for all blood donors, who need to fill questionnaire prior to donation.
If I have a cold or the flu, can I donate blood?
As mentioned earlier, a person needs to be fit and healthy in every way possible. We can’t complete the procedure if someone isn’t in good health (symptoms-free) or isn’t feeling well.
